We are developing a new line of services to address the transition from ICD9 to ICD10 based on algorithms and specific rules for each of the different clinical domains.

1. ICD9 – ICD10 Transition

Benefits of the transition from ICD9-MC ICD10-MC:

  • Updates: Flexibility to add new codes
  • Consistency: each code has a unique definition
  • Higher granularity
  • Limits use categories NEOM / NEC
  • Indicates laterality

2. ICD9-MC Description

ICD9-CTM or international classification of diseases, 9th revision, clinical modification is represented by two American Federal agencies: the National Center for Health Statistics and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

They meet regularly to study, approve, and incorporate the proposals of amendments to the classification.

3. ICD10-MC Description

ICD10-CTM or international classification of diseases, 10th Edition, clinical modification will be used for reporting diagnoses and reasons for contact in health care in various fields. He will replace volumes 1 and 2 of ICD-9-CM diagnosis codes.

It is responsible for the development and maintenance of ICD10-MC the NCHS (National Center for Health Statistics) of the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) in the USA.

4. ICD10 – PCS Description

ICD10-PCS or international classification of diseases, procedures coding system, 10th Revision will be used to inform of the procedures performed on patients admitted. He will replace volume 3 codes of procedure of ICD-MC.

Responsible for the development and maintenance of ICD10-MC is the CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) in the USA.


5. GEM Mapping tables

Tables that provide all valid classification codes destination to a source classification code (ICD9-MC / ICD10-MC in both directions).

They do not seek to obtain a correspondence 1-> 1
The choice of one of the alternatives will depend on the context in which that code (for the purpose of mapping) is used

6. Reimbursement Mapping tables

Tables that provide a mapping 1-> 1. The mapping can be a code 1 destination or to a cluster (cluster not will be treated as alternatives).

They are derived from the mappings GEM, that a number of rules have been applied.
